English Teacher Position

joinourteamOur small elementary school based in Nitra is looking for a native English teacher available for the next school year, starting September 2018.

Makovičky is a school with a homely, community feel organized around one  mixed-aged classroom counting around 15 children aged from 6 to 10.

We are three teachers supporting our young children´s developement and helping to create a safe learning enviroment for them. As a new teacher joining our team, you will be responsible for teaching English in mixed-aged groups based on ability. Teaching English at our school may take various forms, ranging from preparation for international certificates to spending free time with children in the afternoons.

Enthusiasm and passion for children is a must. This goes well beyond enjoying being with children. It means wanting to make a difference to each and every child. You should, therefore have the drive to unlock every child’s door to learning, overcoming any obstacle a child may have. In order to do this, you need to have acquired effective skills for communicating and working with young children.

The teacher we are looking for is supposed to create a sense of community and belonging in the classroom. The mutual respect provides a supportive, collaborative environment. In our small school, there are rules to follow and jobs to be done and each child is aware that he or she is an important, integral part of the group.

You will be asked to cooperate with your colleagues on an ongoing basis. Functioning in a small team of teachers requires not only open and frequent communication but also confidence and trust. You will have a considerable amount a freedom to implement methods creating a flexible teaching enviroment. We are convinced that a supportive team of friendly teachers and a group of happy and cooperative children make our school a place you will enjoy to work at.

If you feel this teaching position is for you, please ask for more information and submit your current resume and cover letter to Silvia Seigne,  silvia.seigne@gmail.com.
